El largometraje será un reboot de la franquicia
Una nueva película de Mortal Kombat se está produciendo, y según informes, el cineasta detrás de la reciente Furious 7 y la próxima película de Aquaman, James Wan, se encuentra cerca del proyecto, pero no como director, sino como productor.
De acuerdo con el medio
The Tracking Board, New Line Cinema está buscando adaptar el clásico videojuego a la pantalla grande, esto de la mano de Wan, buscando hacer un reboot, el cuál el estudio describe como un "desvío de la mitología con artes marciales más oscuras y brutalmente reales".
El guión está siendo escrito por Oren Uziel (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) y Dave Callaham (The Expendables). Según el medio, la trama gira "en torno de un chico aparentemente inofensivo, que se da cuenta de su potencial cuando se encuentra atrapado en medio de una batalla interdimensional entre guerreros de la Tierra y monstruos de Outworld. Ahora, con el fin de detener la destrucción total del mundo, él debe ganar el torneo de las artes marciales conocido como 'Mortal Kombat'".
Por el momento, habrá que esperar para tener más información al respecto. Se sabe que James Wan está involucrado en la dirección de la película live action de Robotech, además de los proyectos previamente anunciados.
